Stealth PCIII Installation

When i got my USB PCIII, i installed just like the directions and thought everything was fine. After the install, i realized that the harness added a lot more wiring near the throttle bodies that is very visible (and not too clean) with the extra wires and WHITE connectors. I could see why people were always trying to cover that up with a Speedstar scoop or Baron's tear drop. I liked not having anything covering up the motor (i installed a DIY BAK), but the wiring mess made me consider it.

Then i stumbled across Oliver Ratzesberger's "Perfect PCIII Install" thread on RSWarrior.com, and realized that i needed to reinstall that puppy with his tips as soon as possible. But while looking over the bike to see what needed to be done, i decided to take the perfect install one step further and make it a "stealth" install to minimize the exposed wiring and keep it all one color.

Here's the wiring before the stealth install...

While pulling the gray and black/white wires back through the harness, i decided to pull back the female fuel injector connector half way back as well (by sectioning the longer protection tubing in half and removing the connector... i also had to extend the two black wires that go between both connectors). After carefully noting each color wire position of both the factory and PCIII connectors, i pulled the connectors off and swapped them between each other so that the white connector was now on the bike's wiring, and the black connector was now on the PCIII harness. I also pulled the factory braided sleeve off the factory wiring and put it on the PCIII...

The factory wiring is pulled back up inside the frame so that the white connectors are hidden...

The factory TPS and digital ground wires are tapped into per Oliver's instructions (i soldered the connections to the factory wires,
but used connectors on the other end so that i could still completely remove the PCIII if necessary)...

Everything is then reinstalled...

Now the wiring is very minimal, it's all one color, and it looks stock!

It looks clean enough now that i don't feel the need to cover it up anymore.
