Results: 7th out of 7 in class (or... DEAD LAST!)

Here's my story (and I'm stickin' to it!)... right before my first set of runs in Heat 1, I accidentally left my lug nut socket in the hatchback, so every time I turned a corner the thing would rocket through the interior and made all sorts of racket! I thought the car was coming apart! I even DNF'd my first right side run because I was so distracted that I got lost on the course. On my second pair of runs in Heat 1 (after removing the socket), I guess I was still so flustered by my "socket experience" that I didn't do too much better. Also, my "check engine" light kept coming on as I pulled up in the staging lanes (boy THAT will break your concentration! )

During Heat 2, I was able to put in some decent runs (especially compared to all the other West Texas Region members that were running in the event), but they weren't my "best" and I was planning on improving them on Sunday. Unfortunately, Heat 3 on Sunday was canceled due to VERY high winds (every cone on the course had blown over), so my runs from Saturday's Heat 2 had to stand and that put me in dead last.

I'm confident that I would've been able to improve my runs by at least 3/4 of a second to a full second (per side) on Sunday... probably not enough to win, but enough to get me out of dead last. My class also had two multi-time National Champions (Patty Tunnell and Brian Priebe) competing with us too, so I don't feel too bad for not winning.
