Custom Brushed Aluminum Front Fender Mounts

While taking all the body work off my 900SSie for the new gloss black paint job, I stripped out one of the front fender mounting clamps and had to order another one from Ducati. Well... after waiting for 3 friggin weeks, they sent me a black one that is apparently for a Monster which doesn't work because the mounting hole is offset. I never liked the white plastic mounts anyway, so... I decided to make my own new mounts out of a couple strips of 1/16th thick aluminum.

Here's the mounts after bending and drilling them to the right spec along with the steel keepers that keep them together on the bike before the fender is mounted to them (these were cut from a metal strap that comes with an aftermarket car stereo, then just folded over in a vise).

Here is one mounted along with the factory white plastic mount to show a comparison...

Here's one side done, and ready for the fender to mount...

And here's the finished product with stainless steel hex key bolts (with stainless steel washer and nylon washer underneath)
and nylon locking nuts on the back (held in place with a long box end wrench while threading the bolts in)...
