To really make the > front and rear function as a well matched system, the front > calipers should be upgraded to the 73mm versions, the master > cylinder should be the 1 1/8" bore version, and an adjustable > proportioning valve should be added. the only problem is that the t-bird rear calipers have 46mm pistons. combined with the 73mm fronts, they won't give you much rear bias. i suspect that you'll find yourself unable to lock up the rears even with full line pressure to them. they're still better than stock brakes, though, and should be fine for most people. you can play with pad selection to try to make the rears do more of the work. but if you have any kind of rear suspension, you're going to have trouble using the extra rear traction with the t-bird rears. According to Porterfield, there is a 0.5mm difference in backing plate width and height between the two outlines. Also, the T-bird version (347) is several millimeters thicker. The Porterfield pads were $10 more for the 347, but the extra friction material thickness made up for the price difference. It does seem easier to find performance pads for the 413 outline, though. -Brian
